Hello, it's my first time here :)

This is for a story I'm writing, I need two words actually;

First, a compound name for an object that means something similar to "Star staff" or relatively close. Second a girl's name that has elements of both intelligence (you can be as creative as necessary) and calmness, serenity, something of that sort.

Thanks to anyone who provides help :D

For a name, you might want to check out this page:

http://www.namenerds.com/irish/meaning1.html

For "Star Staff," perhaps:

Bachall na Réaltaí

Wait for more input, please.

Is "star" here referring to a single star? or several stars? or stars in general?

Good. I'll second Redwolf's Bachall na Réaltaí. :yes:

There are other words for "staff" but they tend to sound like "big stick" or "branch" or are very specific in their usage compared to bachall.

Seán's cána is more like a "cane" than a "staff", cosmach is "cosmic", and réaltach is "starry, astral, stellar, starlike".

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

Bachall na Réalt would be a variant (where réalt is the singular, and here in the genitive plural).
