It appears to be a great resource for Gaeilge Uladh but unfortunately the video or audio cannot be accessed from the USA

Seamus, are you sure it's not a problem with your software? Seán said he's American and he's using Giota Beag. But maybe he's not actually in the USA at the moment.

Anyway, it's only right that Americans should be banned from learning Irish. It's our secret code that we use we want to make fun of Americans behind their backs. :bolt:

Not available in the Republic of Ireland either.
Very rarely is anything from the BBC available outside the "UK".

But you can access them if you have one of those proxy server accounts.

I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

Try this link. Works for me, and I'm in the Republic. http://www.bbc.co.uk/northernireland/ir ... /learners/

That's not the same page (site) that Seoirse was referring to. The above site is an old site that hasn't been updated since Oct.2007. As Brid indicated the BBC Gaeilge site video or audio clips cannot be acessed outside the UK unless you set up a VPN (virtual private network) which is cumbersome and costly.

Yes, I was thinking of the old site and never checked Saoirse's link. It was only when people started saying that the site wasn't working that I realized I was on a different page to the rest of ye.

It looks like the old site has all the same audio content as the new one.

Its working for me too. That's a very friendly source for Gaedhlig Uladh, as I was trawling around I came across this might be useful for Ulster Irish speakers/ learners:

http://www.smo.uhi.ac.uk/~oduibhin/

Should I change the original posting in the Learning Resources section to include this link instead of the one that I did? Or as well as?

I didn't check the whole thing out properly before posting  ; I just responded to the request to include the resource in the section.
