This is getting a lot of attention at the moment. He is being referred to as 'the coolest president ever'! By the way, what is the Irish equivalent of *anker.......

Wanker? I thought it was just the vocative of "banker". ;)

Bankers are often addressed using that vocative, certainly!

Being back in Kerry now, I can't watch that video; can someone describe it to me? :)

It is a four minute and 20 second rant/monologue/answer, touching on universal health care, blasting a Tea Party interviewer, Michael Graham. He also touches on civil rights, anti-Semitics and war. I don't know what the question was that Mr. Higgins was answering. I really did not disagree with what Mr. Higgins said, but I not sure I agree with the demeanor/passion/rudeness of his answer. I guess it would depend on ones personal view, as to which adjective one would choose.

Gumbi, That being said, I am cynical when it come to ALL politicians.

Actually, it was an Irish radio program long before Michael D became President and the Tea Partier was another guest on the same program.

http://www.newstalk.ie/2012/featured-5- ... -newstalk/

Besides being out of context and out of date, the Youtube version is heavily edited to remove the shouting down Michael Graham was also doing.

This is what happens when a well educated man like Micheal D. meets a man who has no insight or knowledge of what he is commenting on. Of course Michael D. is going to get passionate and frustrated when all the other fella is doing is spouting a load of lies and shite.

After seeing the full version of the debate, I can gladly say I am very proud that Michael D is our president- and he speaks Irish :D .

I'm familiar with Munster Irish/ Gaolainn na Mumhan (GM) and the Official Standard/an Caighdeán Oifigiúil (CO)

Is it possible to see the full debate on-line? I liked what he said, and would love to see the whole thing in context.

There's a link to it in my post above. ;) (There is only audio available as it was a radio interview, but it is on the site of the radio program itself.)
