Cad é "feachach" i mBearla? I doubt that's the correct spelling but I heard it in a story, from the context it was definitely someone/something answering the door of a castle, anyone have any ideas?

Might it be fathach/ athach= giant. Sometimes the "th" can be a "ch" sound? This is only a guess- wait for more input!

I'm not sure if this would fit, or how it would be spelt.... (it might be a shortening of "féach an... " even) Like you'd say in English "Would ya look at... "

I can't comment on pronounciation really, but the context (a giant opening the door of a castle) suggests to me that fathach might be appropriate and it's not a million miles away from feachach, which my have been slightly misheard.

What is the story? Is it available on-line?

If we could hear the word in context (that is, in the context of the other words around it), its meaning might become clear. For example, was it something the giant said, or something that was said about the giant?

'maith agaibhb a chairde, I actually meant to mention it its called "Scéal an Táilliúra" the word is about 1:25 into the story and given the suggestions above im guessing it is indeed "giant", i also meant to mention the stories here too, good few all on itunes for free http://itunes.apple.com/us/itunes-u/scealta/id472490111
