Asked at the "old forum" (translated in the hope that the person finds his/her way here -- I'm still banned at the old site):

Quote:
Hello all! I'm looking to get a new tattoo and would like to get "We were brave, we were crazy, we were young," translated into Scottish Gaelic to follow my heritage. Any help would be appreciated!

Literally:

Bha sinn gaisgeil; bha sinn air chuthach; bha sinn òg
We were brave; we were crazy [insane]; we were young.

but as for the word "crazy", for which there are a number of other possible expressions, it's really an idiomatic use in the English version, meaning that the people took chances or acted wildly, not that they were literally crazy, so it would be better to change it to something like "wild" in Gaelic, resulting in the following (which has some alliteration as well):

Bha sinn gaisgeil; bha sinn garbh; bha sinn òg
We were brave; we were wild; we were young.
