Someone's asking at Chiff and Fipple about a jig with this title. Peripherally, "An Phis Fluich" has come up. I've never heard the former, and I'm guessing the latter may be pretty vulgar (?)

Actually, I think it just means "the wet pea"

doesn't make much sense, but unless there's a slang meaning for it that I'm not aware of, that's all I can gather

That's literal, but I'm pretty sure it's not accurate.

An Phis Fhliuch is a slip jig that is usually called "The Choice Wife" in English but that is really a euphemism for what the Chieftains more literally called it - "The Wet Pussy" (and we are not talking about cats. ;) )

In Scottish Gaelic, a muing is a "mane", as in "the horse's mane". I suspect, however, that it might be used in that song as another euphemism for what is discussed above.

It's a different tune, though. I don't think either is a song...one's a jig and the other is either a jig or a reel (I haven't heard either myself).

Also called, IIRC, O'Farrell's Welcome to Limerick. Must have been quite a welcome.
