Fadó, nuair a thosnaíomair ar an dTeagasc Críostaí ’ dh’fhoghlaim, a phobal, is cuímhin linn go léir gur múineadh dúinn ar dtúis na chúig Cínn-rúndiamhra, Aondacht Dé, Tríonóid Dé, Incholladh an tSlánaitheóra, Bás an tSlánaitheóra, agus Aiséirí an tSlánaitheóra. Do múineadh dúinn, leis, an uair sin, aon Chríostaí atá tagaithe i mbliantaibh tuisceana, nách foláir do eólas a bheith aige ar na chúig mistéiribh sin agus iad a chreidiúint go hoscailte. Dá bhrí sin, ní gá dul chun aon trioblóide chun a chur ’na luí ar aigne éinne againn gur éirigh ár Slánaitheóir ó sna mairbh. Is fírinne d’fhírinnibh ár gcreidimh é, agus an té ná creidfeadh é, ní Críostaí ceart in aon chor é.

Sr Mary Vincent who wrote a book on Father Peter's works seemed to think his Sermons were humdrum, nothing special, just standard fare that he dashed off. But she was writing in 1939. In 2025, when genuine Christian faith is rare among the clergy - the late Pope appeared not to be a believer at all - these are astonishing words. Father Peter is saying clearly: if you don't believe in the Resurrection, then you're not a Christian. Full stop (or as the Americans say, "period"). His Sermons are amazing - and will be the 4th volume in my series.
