I'm getting married shortly and looking for some Irish Gaelic to be inscribed on my ring as a tribute to my ancestry and my late father who was very proud of being Irish. Is it possible to get a translation of this quote line by line? Depending on the sizing I would like to pick one of the lines

boundless as the sea
My love as deep;
the more I give to thee
The more I have,

A recently discussed structure can probably be used for the last two lines:

Dá mhéid a thugaim duit-se
(is eadh) is móide atá agam-sa (pronounced "as móide 'tá 'gam-sa")
note that Irish doesn't make any distinction between the english concepts "thee" and just "you."

Parenthesis meaning optional.
I am struggling with the first two.

I don’t believe you can drop is ea here (you could use is amhlaidh instead, though), and I don’t see why you’d say is móide instead of is mó in the second part. I think there’s no need for emphatic duitse/agamsa either – you’re not comparing ‘you giving to me’ vs ‘me giving to you’, it’s about what I give and I get, no contrast.

(also I wonder if dá mhéid a dtugaim is ea is mó a bhfuil agam wouldn’t be better? ~“however many is all that I give you… so the more is all that I have” – but maybe I’m overthinking it, I don’t have good intuition here…)

“boundless as the sea/My love as deep” doesn’t make syntactical sense. Something is missing: what is “boundless as the sea”? So I googled it. In the complete quote (as you know obviously - I’ve never read yer man’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ myself.) it’s “My bounty is as boundless as the sea…”. If you want to omit ‘my bounty’ you’ll have to re-phrase the first two lines: ‘My love (for you) is (as) deep and boundless as the sea.’ Or variations thereof. It’ll be longer in Irish than in English, I think, so you might have to discard one of the adjectives. Counting the quote as four lines, you can’t have line 1 without line 2 (or vice versa obviously), or line 3 without line 4 (or vice versa).

I give up trying these translation things haha
