I feel as if no one in Ireland starts learning Gaelic by listening to and acquiring the fundamental sounds. Except native speakers of course. When I was learning Chinese and Russian. My tutors made the point very clear to me that sounds must be acquired first. Particularly for English speakers learning Chinese otherwise "They end up speaking incomprehensible gibberish that only other English speakers can understand."

Well, the speakers in those audio files don't sound like anyone who has learnt Irish at school in Ireland today. You could also download the 1961 Teach yourself Irish with embedded audio files - the pronunciation there is like what you hear in the files you linked to.
