Traced my family back to County Armagh and would like this phrase translated for a tattoo I'm designing for myself.

"Do not fear death" in the Ulster dialect please and thank you.

This appears to have gotten redirected from the Scottish Gaelic section, where it was misplaced.

With one exception, I think that phrase would be the same in all dialects (though I may be corrected);

Ná bíodh eagla ort roimh an bhás [Ulster]
Ná bíodh eagla ort roimh an mbás [elsewhere]

If said to more than one person, replace ort with oraibh. With a tattoo or a slogan, a logical case can be made for using either the singular or the plural, since it is arguably addressed to one person at a time. If you were speaking live to a group, you would definitely need to use the plural form, but slogans, proverbs, and the like often use the singular.

In Ulster Irish (it's "my" dialect) I'd say:

Ná bíodh iogla ort roimhen bhás.
(although "eagla" is normally written "eagla" but pronounced as if it were "iogla").

Pronounced, roughly:

nah BEE-oo OGG Lort reh-vuhn WAASS.
(the "aa" is the same sound as in American "bad", like a long eh-sound.) Of course the r's are pronounced as in Spanish, not as in English.
