Hello,
I am looking for a translation of "love of my heart" or "forever loved" or some variation of.
(Google translate gave me "gra' mo croi'" and "gra' go deo"
If something exists for "heartbeat at my feet" that would be cool too.
My ancestors are from County Cork so I'm not sure if dialect matters.
I am doing a memorial for my heart dog that I had to put to sleep the day before I started chemo. It was a very rough year and I never got to mourn her. Her name was Violet so it will be a violet flower with these words as the stem so hopefully it looks pretty. Hope you don't find it silly to do this for a dog.
Thank you in advance,
Mary
Not silly at all. Beautiful. Sorry about missing your Violet. Interesting that the Irish word "sailchuach" translates to English as "dog violet."
Cork lies in the Munster dialect area but I don't think the Irish would be much different from anywhere else.
Grá mo chroí > Love of my heart
Grá go deo > Love(d) forever [or maybe "(You will be) loved forever" >
(Beidh) grá duit go deo.]
Buille an croí thíos ag mo chosa. > Heartbeat at my feet.
Wait for more ideas and input.
