hello, my friend and i met in Ireland but are from the states and want a matching tattoo in Gaelic. Please reply with a translation of Irish Gaelic.

please only reply if you are a fluent speaker!

I don't think you will always find a "fluent speaker" here but the scholarship for the written language is very good.

That said, I will leave it to someone else to give you a translation.

I'd suggest:

an inchinn chéanna, colainneacha éagsúla = the same brain, different bodies
or
(aon) inchinn amháin, dhá cholainn (éagsúla) = one brain, two (different) bodies

(btw: far from being fluent ;) )

I think both of those are good.
I prefer the second option without the bracketed words.
