Greetings,
I am going to embark on my Irish learning journey in the new year (currently learning Welsh and improving Scottish Gaelic). I am also moving to Cork next year. Therefore, I would like to learn the Munster Dialect of the Language. However, my issue is that most of my learning resources are in the Connacht dialect. I own TYI by Myles Dillon (Munster), Learning Irish by Micheál O Siadhail (Connacht), Glossika (Connacht) and other miscellaneous (mostly Connacht). I am not sure how to proceed. Should I just use all of them and then try to modify my speech to be more Munster or just focus on that dialect and leave the other resources alone?

Any Advice would be appreciated.

Sounds like you are doing a lot at once. I would try to simplify by studying one book: TYI gives you basics. Once you get to Cork you can check out the situation and maybe find some teachers.

That's true, maybe I will be able to find a teacher when I make it to Cork. I just like having good audio material to practice on my own and was worried that the different stress patterns between the dialects might cause some problems. I guess I will just leave the other resources alone for the moment.

Here are the files for Teach Yourself Irish, Myles Dillon and Donncha Ó Cróinín, Hodder and Stoughton, 1961. The text is out of print. The files were created by Dave Smith with permission from the publishers, Hodder and Stoughton.

This is the old Teach Yourself Irish that taught West Munster dialect.

Instructions:
1. Download all 4 zip files to your computer.
2. Unzip "Teach_Yourself_Irish.zip". This will create a pdf file of the text and a folder named "Mp3"
3. Unzip "bMp3.zip", "cMp3.zip" and "dMp3.zip" into the folder named "Mp3".
4. Learn and enjoy.
