Dia daoibh!

I am considering getting a tattoo in Gaeilge in memory of my Grandad. He always used to say "Full Steam Ahead!" and I was wondering if anyone could translate this phrase for me (if possible).

I found a couple translations online but of course who knows...

ar aghaidh faoi lánluas -- I understand this is more in a nautical context?

ar aghaidh linn faoi lán seoil

Foclóir shows the second one you have as the figurative usage. Is that what you want?

I like that one, too, note that it presumably comes from the days before steam vessels, so the meaning is more literally as follows [the parts in blue being an addition to what you wanted, but beling idiomatic usage in Irish]:

Ar aghaidh linn faoi iomlán seoil !
Ahead with us under full sail !
[the part in red has been added, but both versions probably work]

There is an equivalent using the term for steam:

Ar aghaidh linn faoi iomlán gaile !
Ahead with us under full steam !
