Hello! I'm looking into getting the phrase "the weight of things" as a tattoo and would love some input on the translation "meáchan rudaí".

I'm a beginner in Irish, and this construction seems a bit simple based on the little I've learned.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It depends on what is meant by "weight": a measurement (= meáchan) or a load (= ualach).
I'd tend to the last, so:

ualach na rudaí
or
ualach na nithe

The English-Irish Dictionary has a similar example: "the weight of years", ualach na mblianta

Both look good to me.
