Seoladh oifigiúil den cheiliúradh bliantúil deireadh seachtaine de cheol traidisiúnta, teanga agus cúltúr na hÉireann. Bíonn sé ar siúl in áiteanna difriúla i mí Iúil.

Official launch of our annual weekend celebration of Irish trad music, language and culture which takes place in a variety of venues in July.

I know it's messy and complicated. There is a word restriction so very little room to manoeuvre. Fáilte roimh cheartúcáin / Corrections welcome.

Seoirse - Can you elaborate on the context of the message ? What is happening to the "Official Launch"?

It's a festival, but that is mentioned in the title already. This is simply a sentence to explain what the festival is. ie. .our annual weekend celebration of Irish trad music, language and culture.

This is what I got from someone else. I find constructions like this really complicated and tend to avoid them so as not to make a complete dog's dinner of them.

Seoladh oifigiúil an cheiliúrtha bliantúil deireadh seachtaine de cheol traidisiúnta, teanga agus cultúr na hÉireann.

Grma.

It looks good, except I would use ar instead of de, based on the examples on Focloir.ie (cheiliúradh ar an gcruthaitheacht, ceiliúradh ar an gceantar, ceiliúradh ar a shaothar, etc). I'm not sure about repeating the preposition for each one. I'd want to lean towards not repeating in this case because [ceol traidisiúnta, teanga, agus cúltur] is all wrapped up in the genitive of [na hÉireann]. Only other thing is the use of the genitive at the beginning, but I'm not confident enough in the genitive to know what to do with the deireadh seachtaine (and it's quite likely nothing should be done with it).

Those "de" are verbatim translations of English "of". Both aren't possible in Irish.
"Our" is missing. mí Iúil is in the future, so beidh instead of bíonn.

Seoladh oifigiúil ár gceiliúraidh bhliantúil deireadh seachtaine ar cheol traidisiúnta, theanga agus chultúr na hÉireann. Beidh sé ar siúil in áiteanna difriúla i mí Iúil.

I presume it's correct (because you're doing it :P), but just to confirm: "teanga" and "cultúr" are lenited because of prior "ar" (which you have opted not to repeat ie "ar cheol tradisiúnta, ar theanga agus ar chultúr..." - though could have repeated it if you so wished). Is that correct?

I'm glad I picked such an appropriate title for the thread ie 'messy'. Far too messy for me. Grma one and all! :GRMA:

I hope so ;)

(Confinding in Galaxyrocker’s reasonable argumentation and keeping in mind Saoirse’s assertion that there’s a word restriction.
But usually I would repeat the preposition)

I believe there is an incorrect double genitive here. Should it not be:

Seoladh oifigiúil ár gceiliúradh bliantúil dheireadh seachtaine ar cheol traidisiúnta, theanga agus chultúr na hÉireann.
?
