AN DAMHÁN ALLA AGUS AN MHÍOLTÓG
Le Dúghlas De hÍde

Sé dúirt damhán alla le míoltóigín tráth:
“Ó! Tar liom abhaile, a chréatúirín breá.
Tá grian gheal an tsamhraidh ag damhsa ar mo theach,
Tá ithe ‘gus ól ann - a dtiocfá isteach.”

Dúirt an créatúrín díchéillí ag dearcadh isteach:
“Is tú croí na féile, is breá é do theach.
Ach deirtear go mbíonn tú ag ithe ‘gus ag ól
míoltóigíní mar mise, idir fhuil agus fheoil.”

Dúirt an damhan alla - ó sé do bhí glic:
“Is bréag mhór, dar m'anam, an scéal sin, a mhic.
Tá caoireoil, tá mairteoil, tá bainne anseo.
Is an té a bheadh marbh dhéanfaidís beo.”

Bhí an créatúirín meallta ag comhrá mar sin, Is dúirt sé:
"Tá mé sásta, mar tá tú chomh binn.
Ach ní fhanfaidh mé i bhfad.”
Chuaigh sé isteach,
Ach níor chuala mé fós gur tháinig sé amach.

 Bríd, this is a great idea for someone who is trying to learn the sounds of the language. They can read the words while listening to them. Maith thú. An-smaoineamh.

If you like that one you might like a few more on my channel too. I can't sing, so I recite.
I'm working on Anach Cuain at the moment. :D
