Does the site need the 'wait for three confirmations' warning or something similar? Not sure as the focus seems to be on learning and not tattoos. Just a thought.

I think it would be a good idea to include it on the "Translation" page, as we'll surely get tattoo and engraving requests there.

Maybe the moderator could have just a "tatoo" section. Although I am a Libertarian and feel people can destroy their bodies as they see fit, I get tired of all the interest only in "translations for my tatoo". Maybe we could have tatoo section where I could just never check that. Call me a fuddy duddy fite fate. Oh bhuel....duirt mé é anois. I stopped going to the Irish Gaelic Translation Website bc it irked me that people's only interest in Irish was tatoos. Bí caint ár dteanga fein......let's get on past tatoos. :stoning:

Well, at the risk of drawing criticism for having too many categories, Aistriúcháin - Translations is now divided into two sub-forums: Tatúnna - Tattoos; and Aistriúcháin Eile - Other Translations. (I mainly wanted to see how subforums worked - if people like that idea we may be able to hide the some of the forums inside others. If it doesn't work, we can go back to the other.)

The warning now appears at the top of both sub-forums. It is tentative until I can edit the ones from IGTF.

@Faber - now when you click "unread posts" you will see a list of posts you haven't read yet, and the name of the forum they are in will appear below the topic name. Just avoid the ones marked "Tatúnna - Tattoos". Once you have read all your unread posts and have only tattoo posts left, press "Mark forums read" on the Index Page. Alternatively, you can go to mark any forums you don't want to read first and press "Mark topic read".

Even if people don't want a tattoo for themselves I think people can learn from tattoo requests.
Some are interesting.
Although "what doesn't kill me makes me stronger" or "live, laugh, love" etc are getting very boring

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

I think there is an extra pressure to get the translation right when it is a tattoo, says Brendan the stress-junkie (but it can be a bit of a worry when they run off to get it inked while we are still in the middle of discussing it. :panic: )

Maybe we should have separate sections for Bible Quotes and Wiccan Rede. Those two groups are always at each other, too. :ninja:

Do you want to drive Redwolf to jumping off a bridge.

We have enough sub-forums already.. it is getting more confusing.

Yes and no, Bríd.

Some people find Bible Quotes just as boring (and/or fictional) and others don't like either.

The beauty of the subforums is that the posts are labelled in the "View unread posts" and other lists, so you can skip the ones that might offend, or simply just not interest, you.

Might I suggest that this page(Translations) is a tad confusing? Firstly the warnings about confirmations while necessary..are either too large or placed badly so that one could easily miss the links for "Tattoos"" and "Other Translations"..I would also place these under the same heading..inasmuch as there is a lot of overlap...my .03c

Valid points, Tiarnan. Feeling a bit generous, eh? Typically you only offer your $0.02
