Tattoo for mother

Hi there
To honour my mum who survived breast cancer I'd like to get an Irish Gaelic tattoo saying "for mother"
I found "Matháir" online but not sure weather to but "do", "a" or "for" in front of it for it to address her.
Also I'd like to see if the above spelling is correct or if I should use the "Mhatháir" version instead.

So, it really depends on what you mean by the English in my view. Do you mean "for (my) mother" (the my being implied), or are you using "mother" as an actual name (if you know what I mean).

It sounds like what you want is "do mo mháthair" which is "for (my) mother"

but wait for more.

Yes I am Trying to say for my mother. So in Irish Gaelic you would say 'my' where as in English its not always said out loud? That was very helpful already hope someone comes to confirm!
