Doing some copy editing for a friend. Would "Ceithre Ard" make sense as "Four Heights" (as in four high places)?

Yes.
In case of a (fictional) place name I'd use an article: Na Ceithre Ard

Thanks. I think it's not so much a place as it is a spell of some sort.

I may well be coming back here with questions like this for the next couple of weeks. My friend has asked me to proof his novel (which so far is pretty darned good!), and especially the Irish, as he doesn't have a lot under his belt, and I don't want to steer him wrong.

Ós ag caint ar cur faoi dhraíocht atá tú sílim gur céimeanna an focal is fearr. i.e. bunchéim , meánchéim , ardchéim, an chéim uachtaraigh(an chéim is airde) .Sin é an nós le aidiachtaí comparáide sa Ghaeilge.Muna bhfuil tú dearfa faoi is féidir leat céimeanna eile a chumadh a fheileann idir na gnáthchéimeanna atá luaite agam.
