Nollaig faoi shona daoibh agus Athbhliain faoi mhaise daoibh uile.

Can I leave the first daoibh out?
If I have to put it in, do I have to have uile as well?

Thanks.

Happy Christmas to ye and a Happy New Year to ye vs. A Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year to ye :)

Thanks, Jay
But that's just the English.
I'd like to know if it's better Irish to repeat the pronominal preposition, I've never been too clear on that, but it's my feeling that even though it's not necessary, it's probably better to repeat it, however I don't really know. I can't find anything about this in the grammars I have. But with the modifier 'uile' I have no idea at all at all, I suspect that would have to be repeated as well, but I could probably get round that by using 'go leir' instead.

It's possible that to be grammatically correct you have to repeat the word (I don't know), but it's not necessary in normal speech.

Nollaig shona, agus athbhliain faoi mhaise dhaoibh.

Thanks Bríd, I did want to know what was "super"- correct as we're going to be printing a batch of stuff with this on it, and just in case any should fall into the hands of the language fundamentalists....... :darklaugh: :darklaugh:

I think I'll just go with the colloquial and only put it in once.

Go raibh maith agaibh agus Nollag faoi shona agus Athbhliain faoi mhaise daoibh go leir sa bhfóram seo.
