níl fhios agam go díreach cad é an difríocht idir "in aon chor" agus "ar bith"

Is docha go bhfuil "ar chor ar bith" leis. :)

An bhfuil fhios agaibh an naunce (Conas a deirfá "nuance" sa Ghaelainn? :S )

Gabhaim pardún agaibh mo chuid Ghaelainne, níl aon foclóir liomsa inniu.

There's no real difference in nuance between the two- I would say the difference in usage is dialectal.

Rough guide:
(Ar chor) ar bith,* is used in Conamara.
In aon chor/ Ar aon chor,** is used in Munster.

*Bi(u)th was the Old Irish word for the Earth, ar chor ar bith 'any turn in the world', i.e. at all etc...
** According to FGB there can be a difference between ar aon chor and in aon chor, where ar aon chor means: 'anyway, at any rate'.

True, "bith" corresponds to Welsh "byd", which means "world" and is also used to say "at all" (dim byd = nothing at all). Also in Breton, "béd" (world) and "ebet" (no..., not any..., which comes from "e(r) béd", in the world).

Nú "in aochar" de réir Uí Chuív.

Is amhlaidh chomh maith go bhfuil "aon" á úsáid i nGaelainn na Mumhan nuair deirtear "ar bith" i nGaelainn Chonnacht, nach ea? E.g. "An bhfuil aon tuairim agat?" ~ "An bhfuil barúil ar bith agat?"

Ah Tugaim anois , go raibh maith agaibh.

I was going over my notes on my flash card system and I was wondering why I kept saying "in ao' chor" where my notes were prompting me to say "ar bith".

Perhaps its finally beginning to sink it a bit. :)
