Hello! I am interested in getting a tattoo of the words 'have faith' or 'faithful' or something along those lines in Irish. Can someone help me with the translation?

Thank you so much!

Jamie

Faith has a range of nuances; it can mean loyalty, religion, trust etc..., which are expressed differently in Irish. Which meaning of faith are you referring to?

Cian

Just to get some of the options out there:

Faith as in religious faith or belief in a tenet: Creideamh

Faith as in trust or confidence (for example "I trust in God" rather than simply "I believe that God exists"): Muinín

Faith as in loyalty/fidelity/allegiance: Dílseacht

Thank you both for your responses!

I am looking for faith as in hope, optimism, a religious belief, etc. Does that help at all?

In that case,

Bíodh muinín agat 'have religious trust/ confience'
Bíodh dóchas. misneach agat 'have hope/ optimism'

Wait for some more input

These look good. If you really want to get the idea of religious faith in there, you could add "creideamh" (belief) to the mix, though I don't think it's necessary.
