Embarrassingly simple question - 'This is our home': 'Is é seo ár mbaile' is what I want to say, but I have a niggling suspicion that I shouldn't have the 'm'. If I shouldn't, I am wondering why I shouldn't.

Sorry. I should have explained properly. 'Is é seo ár bhaile' is a sign outside a housing estate and I was wondering if it is correct.

Seo é ár mbaile
or if referring to the actual house,
Seo é ár dteach.
would be my idea.

ár bhaile is wrong.

ár mbaile is what my instinct is too, but is there anything to do with singular and plural.

It would certainly be ár mbábóga - our dolls. If we were sharing a doll, would it be ár mbábóg or ár bábóg or ár bhábóg? I never even liked dolls, but you get my point! :bash:

As far as I know, "ár" always eclipses...doesn't matter if you're talking about one thing or multiple things.

After ár (our) there is always eclipsis regardless whether the following word is singular or plural.
Likewise with the mutations caused by the other possessives, they remain the same as well whether singular or plural.

Thanks everyone. I should have gone with my gut of ár mbaile, but when it's on something kind of official, I started imagining rules and possible explanations. :GRMA:
