I saw this yesterday in an antiquarian bookshop in Dublin (Ulysses) and there was 40 euro on it. It's by Peadar Ó Laoghaire.

I wonder, given it's shortness, why the price on it? It's like 14 pages and a lot of that is glossary

It's because antiquarian bookshops in Dublin charge outrageous prices for books, they treat books in Irish as if they were from the Middle Ages. I have Rí na mBréag myself after buying it for €3 in a second-hand bookstore in Kerry.

Ignoring that, Pádraig Ó Laoghaire's books are interesting for a few reasons. They contain examples of material from Béarra, Uíbh Ráthach and other areas of Munster whose dialects are now extinct. In particular he has a fantastic book which was collected from the Eastern edge of the Iveragh peninsula which is the only real account of the dialect. (For instance they still had a few neuter nouns)
He is a literate native speaker from the 19th century like Peadar Ua Laoghaire or Duinnín, which means that he has a large store of words and forms you don't see any more and can be quite interesting.

I know of the man, and that's why I thought such prices were on his books.

As for the prices, I bought for like 6/7 euro the same books from Conradh na nGael which they had for multiples the price or even cheaper like from the convent on Aungier Street when they used to have books sales (maybe they still do but I don't be in Dublin much now-a-days)

That's really interesting about the neuter nouns. Did the dialect use 'ea' to mark them?
