My "specialty" is Connemara Irish, particularly Cois Fhairrge dialect, but I can also speak Ulster and Munster Irish with native-level pronunciation.

Instead of feidhmchlár, there’s also the somewhat shorter (albeit Béarlachas-ier) apa.

Another question would be whether an ‘appliance calculator app’ would be understandable as such in Irish. If you say just (feidhmchlár/apa) ríofa fearais (or fearas? Wouldn’t it be more natural with the Irish construction to refer to ‘appliances’ in the plural?), would it be understood that you’re talking about something that calculates energy costs from different appliances?

I think my initial reaction to the Irish would just be “So … 1 washing machine + 4 television sets = 3.6 toasters?!?” or something along those lines.

Perhaps something more cumbersome but clearer is a better way to go?

Always wait for at least three people to agree on a translation, especially if it’s for something permanent.

My translations are usually GU (Ulster Irish), unless CO (Standard Orthography) is requested.

apa is good. I never even thought to look up "app" itself.

Genitive plural fearas is better here (but sometimes there are set expressions with the genitive singular where you'd expect the plural. )

Austin, does the calculator count the cost? or just the consumption in Watts/Amp hours? (Being on stand-alone solar power, we only need the latter, but I suppose people on the grid really want to know the cost more than anything else.)
