A lullabye from Munster, you probably all know it already.

Deirín dé, deirín dé,
tá an gabhar donn ag labhairt sa bhfraoch;
deirín dé, deirín dé,
tá na lachain ag screadaigh sa bhféith.

Deirín dé, deirín dé,
gheobhaidh ba siar le héirí an lae,
deirín dé, deirín dé,
is rachaidh mo leanbh á bhfeighilt ar féar.

Deirín dé, deirín dé,
éireoidh gealach is rachaidh grian fé;
deirín dé, deirín dé,
is tusa mo leanbh is mo chuid den tsaol.

Deirín dé, deirín dé,
tá nead smólaí im chóifrin féin;
deirín dé, deirín dé,
tá, agus ór dom stóirín féin.

Deirín dé, deirín dé,
ligfead mo leanbh ag piocadh sméar,
deirín dé, deirín dé,
ach codladh go sámh go fáinne an lae.

Here are the four books published by An tSnáthaid Mhór, that I think are worth a mention here - (though Saoirse has already posted up the DVD of the first one on the forum).

Ó Chrann go Crann - ISBN 978 0 9552 2715 8 (9.76 €)

An Gréasaí Bróg agus na Sióga - ISBN 978 0 9552 2712 7 (18.24 €)

Gaiscíoch na Beilte Uaine - ISBN 97809552 2710 0 (22.88 €)

Mac Rí Eireann - ISBN 978 09552 2714 1 (9.71 €)

and I'd also like to mention this one as well

Biorachan Beag agus Biorachan Mór (7 €)

all of which you can get from Litríocht (as well as from the other Irish-language bookshops of course)

This is taken from An tÁilleán by Tadhg Ó Donnchadha

A Bháisteach, a Bháisteach
Do tháinig ó'n spéir,
Tá muinntir na háite seo
Cráidhte agat féin.

Gluais leat thar n-ais
Is ná tarr fe n-ár ndéin,
Gluais go dtí an Spáinn uainn
A bháisteach, a laogh.

By the way, does anyone else know of any other 'Rain, rain go away' rhymes in Irish ? I'm sure there must be other ones out there.

This is taken from 'Im Bim Babaró' compiled by Nóirín Ní Riain and published by Mercier. It's no longer available unfortunately, perhaps they might think of reprinting it.

Aon, dó, aon, dó, trí,
Chuala mise éinín binn,
Aon, dó, aon, dó, trí,
Chuala mise éinín.

Loinneog:
La - La la - la,
La-la la - la la la,
La-la, la-la la.

Aon , dó, aon, dó, trí,
Thug mé brus don éinín binn,
Aon, dó, aon, dó, trí,
Thug mé brus don éinín.

Loinneog: La-la & rl.
Aon, dó, aon, dó, trí,
D'eitil uaim an t-éinín binn,
Aon, dó, aon, dó, trí,
D'eitil uaim an t-éinín.

Loinneog: La-la & rl.
Aon, dó, aon, dó, trí,
Slán leat, a éinín bhinn,
Aon, dó, aon, dó trí,
Slán leat, a éinín.

Loinneog: La-la & rl.

Caithfaidh mé suas an páiste,
Caithfaidh mé suas is suas is suas é,
'S tiocfaidh sé anuas amáireach.

This one is taken from 'Dosaen Amhrán do Leanaí ' (Micheál Ó Baoill a chóirigh)

Dúna, dána, dorcha, donn,
Do rachainn féin de léim thar abhainn.

Dúna, dána, dorcha, donn,
Mícheál Ó Duibhir do léimfeadh leat ann.

Dúna, dána, dorcha, donn,
Do chuirfinn san abhainn é 's cloch ar a cheann.

Dúna, dána, dorcha, donn,
Do rachainn féin thar farraige 'nonn.

Dúna, dána, dorcha, donn,
Cé hé an fear óg a chuirfinn leat ann?

Dúna, dána, dorcha, donn,
Tadhg Ó Néill a dtugas dó greann.

Dúna, dána, dorcha, donn,
Prátaí 's feoil do thabharfainn dó ann.

Dúna, dána, dorcha, donn,
Go mairir i bhfad led chéile ann.

- Véarsa a bheadh oiriúnach do leanaí agus iad ag gabháil do théadléimneach:

Dúna, dána, doracha, donn,
Do léimfinn féin thar téad le fonn.

Dúna, dána, dorcha, donn,
Isteach 's amach, anonn 's anall.
