Hi there!
My name is Megan, and I live in New Hampshire, USA. My great grandparents chose not to teach their children Irish because they thought it would help them overcome the problems with being newly immigrated. It's a loss I feel keenly, and am looking to remedy.
While my long-term goal is to become at least conversationally fluent in Irish (GM), my immediate need is, I hope, simpler.
I have just finished my first novel, and several characters speak Irish. As my crazy only goes so far, 99% of the "Irish" spoken is typed in English, with the story implying the change.
I would very much like to use at least a few actual Irish terms/words, mainly endearments and nicknames.
I have about a dozen words/terms that I have found (via Rosetta, Google Translate, books, and what I could glean from non-interactive sites). While I feel pretty good about their accuracy/usage, I would greatly appreciate having someone take a peek at my soon-to-be glossary, just to be sure. Any help is welcome, and please accept my thanks in advance!
Hope all is well with everyone who reads this, and have a great day.
