I guess as good a place to start is how my name would be translated, roughly.

I think oireamh is ploughman and fídire is happy/mirthful?

Sound close?

I think you mean "aireamh". I found it in Wingléacht dictionary. But I've never heard that word before.

I would suggest "An Treabhdóir Sásta".
or "An Treabhdóir Súgach" (which translates as both meanings of Merry, the older Happy meaning and the current drunk meaning)

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

I would definitely second:
An Treabhdóir Súgach

Be sure to get three in agreement with a translation given.

Well, this might seem a little nit-picky, but maybe it should be An Treabhdóir Óg Súgach because he's The Merry Ploughboy". :)

That's right. An Treabhdóir Súgach is "The Merry Ploughman", but you're "The Merry Ploughboy", so that's why I added óg.

By the way, I think oireamh is correct; it's just a high-falutin' literary way of saying it, so I'd stick with treabhdóir/treabhadóir.
