Tá a fhios agam

I am curious about the actual meaning of all of the words/particles in the statement "Tá a fhios agam". Is the 'a' before 'fhios' actually the 3rd person singular masculine possessive pronoun so that 'a fhios' is literally 'its knowledge'? The whole statement would then literally be 'I have its knowledge' or even more literally, 'Its knowledge is at me'.
