I'm hoping to get a translation for "Whatever It Takes" for a tattoo piece.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

The following are suggested translations from another forum, however I was advised to check with you guys as apparently you are the best!
- Cóir maireach or
- Go breas nó go treas

Could we get a bit of context for the quote? Irish often expresses things very differently from English, so the more we know about what you want to say and why, the better we can translate it for you.

I haven't heard either before.

But wingléacht (an Irish dictionary) has "Go breas nó go treas" meaning "by hook or by crook", so that sounds like what you want.

But wait for more opinions.

To give a bit of context Redwolf, I first saw the phrase "Whatever It Takes" in the change rooms of a sporting team where it really resonated with me. In that context I guess they mean doing anything to help your fellow brother on the field. Since then I've applied it to all aspects of life; building my business, caring for family, looking out for friends, competing on the field. Doing whatever it takes to provide for and look after all that is important to me in life.

Just been looking on the net and found the following translation at www.irishdictionary.ie

do whatever is necessary = déan cibé rud is gá(n:)

Can anyone pls tell me if this is the correct translation for that phrase, or if it's only a translation for the word "whatever" when used in that context. I ask this because this translation was a result of the word search for "whatever".

Déan cibé rud is gá is very literally "do whatever is necessary".

From that, you could extract cibé rud is gá "whatever is necessary".

In both Munster and Connacht (not sure about Ulster), you could also shorten it to pé rud is gá.
