anuraidh = last year (one word in Irish where it takes two in English)

I know there are times where it can be the other way around too, but I was wondering if anyone else has any examples of where Irish is more efficient than English.

Btw, the use of verbs is much simpler in Irish:

léim -> ní léim

I read -> I don't read. Why do you use an auxiliary? (long ago I think English people would say "I read not", which was much simpler).

Rithinn - 'I used to run' or 'I was wont to run'
Dhúntaí é - 'One/someone used to close it' or 'It used to be closed'

Do bhíodar ag scoraíocht - They were spending an evening gossiping in the neighbours' house.
