There seems to be a variety of alternatives but I would go with "fanaí". It was actually the first choice I thought might be appropriate.

And can we use "anam" to mean "soul" in the same sense as it is used in English? I can't find any reference to that meaning being applied. Usually, "duine" or some other term is used.

So maybe "fanaí anam" or "fanaí an anama" ???
