Hi Everyone I was wondering if someone could help me with a translation. I was wanting to get a tatoo in memory of my wonderful grandfather. I would like the translation for

Strength

or

grandfather

Welcome to ILF, charger. Maybe 'neart' for strength. Wait for more.
I am also editing the title of your post so that people will find it more easily. Saoirse.

Neart should be fine for "strength".

Seanathair for "Grandfather"

For "grandfather" you can also say "athair mór".

Why? Does neart not seem feminine for you? In any case, no, I don't think there is. No more so than in English anyway.

There are some other words which can mean "strength", depending on the context. One is treise, and it happens to be grammatically feminine, although I assume that's not what you really meant. It can be used in expressions like treise thola ("strength of will"). Another possibility is daingne (also grammatically feminine), as in daingne intinne ("strength of mind").
